What do the world’s top players putt with? In the blade vs. mallet putter comparison, the study on the golfwrx.com platform comes to a clear conclusion.
Four years ago, Andrew Tursky of Golfwrx.com wrote an article documenting putter use on the PGA Tour. He wanted to answer the following question: Do the top 50 in the world rankings(OWGR) tend to use a blade or a mallet putter? The result at the time: 44 percent used a mallet putter, while 56 percent used a blade putter. Looking at the top-50 players in the PGA Tour’s Strokes Gained statistics, the result was 54:44 in favor of the mallet putter.
To take stock of the blade vs. mallet putter comparison in 2022, Tursky used the latest Golfwrx and Getty Images WITB photos. This time, he also took a close look at the top-50 in the World Rankings (OWGR) and the top-50 in the PGA Tour’s Strokes Gained statistics. The result: in the top-50 of the OWGR, the mallet putter percentage increased to 62:38 percent. The result is even clearer in the top-50 of the Strokes Gained statistics. Here, the mallet users were ahead with 70:30 percent.
In other words – the best of the best increasingly trust the Mallet putters. What about you – have you changed your putter lately and maybe also your form? We look forward to your feedback and comments!
