Golfino is a family-run company from northern Germany. It was founded in 1986 by Bernd and Christel Kirsten and offers high-quality sports and leisure wear. The founders were inspired by Bernhard Langer’s US Masters victory in 1985, a family business specializing in knitwear with its own production facility in Portugal.
Golfino products are sold worldwide in 40 of the company’s own clubhouse stores and outlets, as well as by 800 distribution partners. At the headquarters in Glinde near Hamburg, more than 250 employees work for what the company claims to be the “European market leader for golf clothing”. The company has expanded and launches a summer and autumn/winter collection every year. In November 2019 it was announced that the company had filed for insolvency.
The British investment company Endless took over Golfino AG. Endless is also the owner of the largest European golf retailer American Golf. As the new investor announced, the company’s headquarters in Glinde will remain in place, but all stationary retail outlets have been closed. “As the founder of Golfino 34 years ago, my wife and I are delighted that Golfino continues to be available to our many loyal customers. We regret that our own stores will have to be closed and would like to thank the store employees for their outstanding commitment over many years,” Dr. Bernd Kirsten, CEO of Golfino AG, told the trade magazine “Fashion United”.
