Once again Tiger Woods is in the headlines, but once again because there is something to report that has nothing to do with golf. Woods pleaded guilty in court a few days ago to avoid jail time. The responsible prosecutor confirmed Woods’ agreement with the charges and confirmed that he pleaded guilty in Palm Beach.
But what had happened? Tiger Woods had been found sleeping in his car on May 29th near his Florida estate, deep in the night. Since the car was damaged, the police patrol took a closer look at the former golf professional. According to Woods, he had been under the effect of various drugs and therefore fell asleep. In the DUI (Driving Under Influence) charge, the former best golf professional admitted to being innocent.
In general, one has to admit that the heyday of Tiger Woods is over and that he is partly only a shadow of his former self. At the PGA Tour Tour Tournament “Hero World Challenge” he only managed to reach 15th place with a score of -4. One of the few favorites, who was highly ranked by the bookmakers, was able to prevail in this tournament. Hideki Matsuyama achieved a result of -18 while the pursuer Henrik Stenson conjured up -16.
Woods escapes jail, but has to pay a fine
Through the statement and the following guilty confess, the tiger could save itself from a prison sentence. Nevertheless, Woods must pay a fine of 250 US dollars. What will hurt him more are the 50 community service hours he has been sentenced to. Woods also has to take a driving course.
Prosecutor Dave Aronberg confirmed this sentence to the French news agency AFP. Tiger Woods was very calm and restrained during the hearing, Aronberg said.
