The ideal German golf trip in Munich

  • Birgit Grimm

Home

The Bavarian capital Munich is an excellent destination in Germany when it comes to playing golf. Numerous golf clubs can be found in and around Munich, plus a vibrant, multi-faceted city with international flair and a landscape that is well worth a visit. All this makes Munich a perfect place for people with an affinity for golf, who want to discover some new golf courses and also do not want to miss out on big city charm with a nice atmosphere.

Choice of accommodation

At the beginning of a journey is the planning and booking of accommodation. Spacious, comfortable, central and of high quality are the categories in which an accommodation should convince. On the one hand there is of course the possibility to stay overnight on the respective golf courses or resorts. Here you will find mostly luxurious accommodations with all-inclusive offers, which leave nothing to be desired and are a good option for several nights. On the other hand, however, it should be considered that staying overnight in a resort means a certain dependency on the respective golf course. However, if several courses are played and tested in a short time, booking an apartment, holiday flat or hotel room in a central location might be the better choice. Due to the location, the surrounding courses can be reached quickly and the golf course to be played can be chosen spontaneously on the respective day. In addition, the city, the nightlife and the many shopping opportunities can be explored in the evening.

Golf clubs to choose from

Munich and the surrounding area of the state capital offer an abundance of golf courses, which are available to the sporty visitors. Among the well-known courses are for example the golf park “Gut Häusern” with 6710 meters (champions, par 72) and six teeing positions per course, the Golfclub Wörthsee (where the Bavarian Youth Team Cups are held) and also the Golfclub Starnberg, which convinces with well-known golf teachers. Furthermore, the golf course Schloss Egmating, which has been in existence for 25 years and is popular with guests, must also be mentioned. What all these courses and clubs have in common is that they are easily accessible from the centre of Munich and also offer overnight accommodation, which should be booked in advance. The clubs and resorts also provide culinary services, although the catering options directly in Munich will be discussed separately.

Food and drink in Munich

Bavarian cuisine is known for its hearty, hearty and powerful dishes. Among the classics are dishes such as knuckle of pork, cheese noodles and also Wiener Schnitzel. Especially for visitors from other cities and countries, it is attractive and interesting to get to know, try and love the Bavarian cuisine. Usually a beer is served with it, whereby the Weißbier has priority over the Pils. Wine is usually served only rarely. Due to the popularity of these culinary variations, there are countless restaurants offering them. Besides the Bavarian cuisine, however, there are also first-class restaurants that offer dishes from all over the world and present them with refinement. Among the most popular and well-known restaurants in Munich are the tantris, the Dallmayr and the Atelier im Bayerischer Hof. These are star restaurants in Munich, where guests can be pampered all around.

All in all, Munich offers a varied and entertaining golf holiday, as the respective courses as well as the accommodation and restaurants are convincing. The Bavarian capital is therefore definitely worth a visit and should be considered for an upcoming golf trip.
